On 26/11/08, i was sitting at home and chilling with friends, when i got call from my father asking whether we were at home as probably a gang war is taking place in south mumbai... At that time no one was to know that its not local hoodlooms firing at each other...... I switched on the tv on that fateful night at ten, and put it off today-29/11/08...
I am not a journalist neither am i a politician, i am though a citizen of India and resident of Mumbai...And this my view nd voice, of a common man. Like hundreds other, i too came to the city of dreams to fulfil my own. Like most women in Mumbai, i felt safe in the city.. but not anymore...
People keep talking about the SPIRIT OF MUMBAI, and how the spirit never dies.. i beg to disagree.. There is no SPIRIT OF MUMBAI... its the INDIFFERENCE OF INDIA'COMMON MAN..
At the point the problem happens, everyone, including me, makes a noise, goverment should take action! THEN WHAT?
How many of us, people like you and me, actually go and vote? and are instrumental in making the goverment which we despise?
On facebook, when Obama won, one saw so many updates expressing their joy at OBAMA winning... Where was our joy or expression of any kind when PRATIBHA PATIL became our president!
Obama has promised United States Of America CHANGE!!! He didnt make any promises for us?? So how come we followed their elections instead of our own? How come we DON'T have our OBAMA???
Because, the minute the topic of POLITICS comes up, most of us shrug our shoulders and says that they are the most corrupt of the lot!!! And that nothing will change for this country!!
WHY?
Why can't there be change?
Dr. Rotbalt said" WHEN A SMALL STONE IS THROWN INTO A POND, THE RIPPLES TRAVEL WIDELY OUT FROM THE CENTRE. THOUGH THE RIPPLES MAY BECOME LESS POWERFUL, THEY STILL DO NOT DISAPPEAR COMPLETLY. EVERY PERSON HAS THE POWER TO CREATE RIPPLES THAT CAN CHANGE THE SOCIETY. IT ISN'T NECCESSARILY THE SO CALLED GREAT LEADERS OR CELEBRITIES WHO CHANGE THE TIMES. THE ABILITY TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE EXSISTS WITHIN.
WE,TOO, HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM THE TIMES AND THE WORLD IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION.
THE POWER OF THE ORDINARY PEOPLE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL. LETS DO OUR BEST".
Its people like you and me, we are the obama's of India, lets not sit back and bicker, lets stand up united and demand the change as residents of India.
Today, Mumbai suffered, tommorrow, this nightmare could happen at any other state in India.
Are the mumbai's of other states equpied to handle the crisis?
Mumbai Police alone could not have managed the terror alone!
Is your city police equpied enough?
How come the POLICE FORCE does not have the equipment required to stand up to these attacks?
Ok, keep terror aside, our goverment officials could not cope with 26 July Natural Calamity... Promises were made then, how many did really come through?
Yes, we are poor country, but that does mean that just to make an extra buck, we put a human life in danger?
Funds allotted for public safety nd for the improvement of our Armed Forces, disappear in various pockets!
It is at such times that we feel the pinch of our corrupt nature.
Hemant Karkare, a hero, who laid down his life in the line of duty, suddenly became a stepping stone for Politician's to show their true colors. People, who not very long ago were name-calling him, are now prasing his dedication and offering rewards. His wife, didn't not accept the money! And her actions spoke louder than words, politician left with egg on his face... Basically showing us what hypocrites we elected to govern us..
Shows his family's dedication to our country.
Do the people who are elected to govern our country feel for anything other than filling their pockets with our money, payed in taxes for our benefits and saftey as the public?
This is our
